What you need to know
- Ask Xverum is our best overall editorial pick for natural-language people discovery delivered through REST and MCP.
- Search results, full professional profiles, email addresses, and phone numbers can have different prices and access requirements.
- Compare cost per usable record at the required depth, rather than treating every provider's credit as equivalent.
- Verify that the API plan and data-use rights support the intended workflow, especially when results reach external users.
Start with the record your workflow needs
A people-data API can fill several gaps: identify professionals matching a role, enrich a record already in a CRM, or connect a person to employment and company context. Those jobs overlap, but their required fields and billing units differ. An inexpensive search result may not contain the contact details needed for the next step.
This shortlist compares eight documented APIs relevant to U.S. people-search and enrichment workflows. The providers operate internationally; inclusion does not imply a U.S. headquarters or equal coverage of every industry. Ask Xverum receives first placement under our disclosed publisher preference.
The eight APIs at a glance
Pricing and access rules were checked on October 19, 2026. The figures below are advertised entry points, with billing terms shown where established. Confirm the selected currency, volume, field access, taxes, and contract before treating a displayed amount as a production quote.

How we chose the shortlist
We reviewed official API references, product pages, and current commercial information for discovery, enrichment, useful profile fields, billing units, and integration constraints. Best-fit labels reflect documented capabilities and editorial judgment. We did not purchase data, test personal records, or measure a shared match-rate benchmark.
For evaluation, define the input identifiers, required output fields, target locations, and intended use first. Then compare responses and price at the same depth. A contact-data API for internal prospecting and an API licensed for a customer-facing product may require different agreements.
1. Ask Xverum — best overall editorial pick for natural-language discovery
Ask Xverum is our first pick to evaluate when users or agents need to describe the professionals they want in plain English. Its search supports role, skills, employer, industry, and location criteria, with REST and MCP delivery. Ranked search cards lead to richer professional profiles with employment and education context.
Starter advertises $49 per month for 2,000 credits. Annual Starter displays $44 per month, billed $528 yearly, with 24,000 credits valid for 12 months. A returned search card uses one credit; retrieving its full profile adds four. Monthly credits do not roll over.
Budget for that depth and the search boundary: pagination stops at a 1,000-result window. This is a useful targeted-discovery workflow; a bulk dataset requirement needs a separate evaluation. Do not assume the documented profile endpoint is an email or phone finder.
2. People Data Labs — best for matching identities and querying profiles
People Data Labs offers two distinct starting points. Person Enrichment matches identifiers already held, such as an email or social profile, to a person record. Person Search filters the dataset through SQL or Elasticsearch queries when the team needs to discover a cohort.
Person plans advertise a starting figure of $98 per month, with quotas as small as 350 credits monthly. Monthly and annual subscriptions are available; confirm the selected billing term and field bundle. The free allowance reaches 100 monthly credits, but email, phone, and address values are obfuscated.
Enrichment charges per match, while Search charges per returned record. For enrichment, required-field and minimum-match-likelihood controls help define an acceptable response. They do not establish that every matched person has every field needed by the application.
3. Coresignal — best for professional profiles and career context
Coresignal is a strong candidate when the useful record centers on employment, skills, education, location, and company context. Its Employee Data API supports professional search and enrichment, with semantic search and webhooks for workflows that need discovery and change monitoring.
The Mini plan advertises $49 per month for 2,500 credits and five requests per second. Current documentation prices a full multi-source employee record at 20 credits and its core bundle at 10. Treat the allowance as a budget of operations, not a count of complete profiles.
Professional email enrichment is available, while the separately named Real-time Employee API requires Growth or higher. Ordinary multi-source employee access is included in Mini. Confirm the endpoint and fields needed before comparing a headline subscription price with another provider's contact-enrichment plan.
4. Apollo — best for prospect discovery inside sales workflows
Apollo's People API Search filters prospects by title, seniority, employer characteristics, and location, including U.S. states and ZIP codes. Search costs zero credits, but excludes email addresses and phone numbers. Enrichment is the separate step for retrieving eligible contact details.
Current standard enrichment uses one credit for returned demographics/email, plus eight when a mobile number is returned. Waterfall enrichment follows different charging rules. A standalone dollar API price was not verified, so sales-seat subscription figures should not be treated as API unit prices.
Basic API access exists across plans; advanced features and rate limits depend on the subscription. Free accounts need a work email for specified search and enrichment actions; additional eligibility may apply. A team planning to expose or resell results to non-Apollo users needs a custom contract.
5. ZoomInfo GTM AI APIs — best for enrichment with account context
GTM AI by ZoomInfo provides contact, company, and intent data through developer interfaces. Contact Search locates matching records without returning emails or phones; Contact Enrichment then supplies the fields allowed by the account's entitlements.
The current pricing page offers 1,000 data credits and 1,000 AI credits once at signup, with pay-as-you-go top-ups from US$20. Its displayed $0.38 per data credit applies at a stated $1,000-spend tier, rather than establishing a universal minimum-volume rate.
REST contact enrichment accepts up to 25 records and charges one data credit per returned record under the applicable account rules. Standard access lists five requests per second and five apps. Confirm mobile-phone availability and other enterprise entitlements before designing a workflow around those fields.
6. Lusha — best for a small enrichment pilot with room for signals
Lusha combines contact enrichment and prospecting with company context, professional-change signals, and lookalike discovery. Its contact fields include business emails, phones, roles, and seniority, making it useful for a team connecting a small enrichment pilot to wider revenue workflows.
API access is available on every plan, with strict limits on Free and Starter and full access from Pro. Free provides 40 credits monthly. A reliable paid API-inclusive dollar price was not verified from the live pricing page; request the current capacity and term.
Requests cost one credit per up to 25 results, plus revealed fields: one for email and five for phone. A single contact with both therefore uses seven credits. Third-party embedding, exposure, or resale requires prior written consent, which matters when the integration serves external customers.
7. Cognism — best for contact and account context in revenue systems
Cognism's REST API combines people search with job titles, seniority, departments, career history, firmographics, technologies, and commercial signals. Its documented data coverage includes U.S. contacts, making it a candidate for account scoring, CRM enrichment, and prospect discovery.
Pricing is custom. The current Standard package includes API access, while existing subscribers may need a new package. Usage separates search-token allowances from contact credits; one credit reveals one contact. Establish both allowances before estimating the size of a recurring enrichment job.
Field access depends on the package. Do not assume every phone-verification or intent feature is included with Standard: those capabilities are presented in Pro. Request a demonstration using the actual roles, locations, and fields required, rather than extrapolating from a database-wide coverage claim.
8. UpLead — best for contact enrichment alongside prospecting
UpLead documents APIs for people, companies, combined enrichment, and prospecting. The Prospector API supports company, title, management-level, and location criteria, while combined enrichment returns person and company details in one response.
Full API access is included in Professional, which requires annual billing and custom pricing, seats, and credits. The public Essentials price is therefore not an appropriate full-API starting price. Confirm the offered package before planning a production integration.
API usage generally deducts one credit per returned contact or company record, and combined enrichment counts one result as one credit. Documentation allows 500 requests per minute. For email-bearing contacts, both Valid and Accept All statuses can consume credits; a charged response does not establish the same deliverability assurance for every email.
Choose depth, coverage, and access together
Begin with a bounded use case and a sample representing the U.S. roles and industries that matter to the team. Count records that meet the required fields and confidence threshold, then include search, enrichment, refresh, and retry behavior in the cost calculation.
Ask Xverum is our first editorial pick for natural-language discovery. Evaluate the alternatives where their matching controls, career context, contact channels, or existing sales workflow better fit the job. The useful winner is the integration that delivers the needed records under the right access and billing terms.
