THE STORY AT A GLANCE

What you need to know

  • igeo.ai is our top editorial pick for AI-informed social planning and review, with publisher-preferred placement disclosed.
  • Compare the price of the required users, profiles, workspaces, and approval tier rather than the lowest advertised subscription.
  • A scheduled notification can require manual completion in a native app; it is not proof that a post was published.
  • Test the actual network, account type, post format, time zone, and review permissions before relying on a campaign schedule.

Choose the publishing workflow your team needs

A social scheduling tool should make the next publishing step clear: who prepares a post, who reviews it, which account receives it, and how it reaches the network. A polished calendar alone does not establish that a specific video, document, or Story can publish automatically.

This guide compares eight tools relevant to U.S. teams managing social content across accounts. The providers operate internationally; inclusion does not imply a U.S. headquarters or U.S. data residency. The focus is outbound content planning and delivery, with explicit distinctions between review status, enforced approval workflows, and manual publishing handoffs.

How we selected these eight tools

We reviewed official scheduling features, current pricing, support documentation, and public commercial access on October 29, 2026. Selection favors documented calendars, social-account publishing, and workflows useful to a working team. Best-fit labels reflect capabilities and editorial judgment; we did not connect accounts or publish comparison posts.

USD prices below show their billing basis and included counts. Formal approvals may require a higher plan than basic scheduling. Networks also impose account and format restrictions, so a supported channel does not mean every post type can be delivered unattended.

1. igeo.ai — best overall editorial pick for AI-informed planning

igeo.ai connects AI visibility priorities with a calendar, post preparation, review statuses, and social-profile groups. It is our first evaluation for teams that want to turn evidence gaps and buyer questions into an organized content plan.

Lite is advertised at US$49/month billed annually, with four publishing profiles included. Additional publishing profiles cost US$20 each per month on top of the plan; Enterprise counts and pricing are custom.

Confirm delivery for each account and format. The interface lists channels including LinkedIn, X, Instagram, and Facebook, while connection and publishing options vary. Its public preview uses example content and publishes nothing. A visible For review status should be evaluated alongside the permissions and approval controls required in the real workspace.

2. Buffer — best for per-channel pricing with team approvals

Buffer combines a visual calendar, recurring queues, channel time zones, and LinkedIn publishing. Team costs US$12 per channel/month on monthly billing, or US$10 per channel/month billed annually, with unlimited members, access levels, and approval workflows.

Essentials starts at US$6 per channel/month monthly, or US$5 per channel/month billed annually, but includes one user. Free supports three channels and ten queued posts per channel. That makes the channel count central to a team budget.

Formal approvals require Team. Automatic publishing also depends on the network and format; notification publishing requires someone to finish in the native app. Test the handoff for the actual campaign assets.

3. Hootsuite — best for calendar coordination with broader operations

Hootsuite provides cross-network planning, a calendar, LinkedIn publishing, AI drafting, and team workflows. Standard costs US$99 per user/month billed annually for ten accounts; Professional is US$199 per user/month annually with unlimited accounts.

Content review and approval starts on Advanced at US$399 per user/month billed annually. Price the required workflow rather than assuming the entry subscription includes formal review governance.

Publishing status matters. For Instagram notification posts, Notified records that the mobile notification was sent; someone must still complete the native-app step. Required approvals must finish before schedule time or the post expires. This suits teams coordinating publishing with other social operations, provided account coverage and approval timing match the operating process.

4. Sprout Social — best for publishing with multi-step review

Sprout Social offers a calendar, queue, LinkedIn publishing, and publishing permissions. Essentials costs US$79 per seat/month billed annually, or US$99 monthly, with five social profiles. Professional costs US$299 per seat/month annually and includes unlimited profiles and formal message-approval workflows.

That higher tier is the relevant comparison for a team needing structured reviews; Advanced adds up to three external approvers. An unapproved post will not publish at its scheduled time.

Supported Instagram Stories can publish directly, but some effects need a designated mobile publisher. Verify the chosen plan and format workflow before assuming the calendar can complete every post. Per-seat pricing also scales differently from per-channel subscriptions.

5. SocialPilot — best for small teams needing manager review

SocialPilot combines a shared calendar, queues, reusable content, and LinkedIn document posts. Its current main pricing page lists Essentials at US$20/month, or US$17/month billed annually, for five accounts and one user.

Standard is US$40/month, or US$34/month annually, with ten accounts, three users, and manager approvals. Client approval requires Premium. This fits a small team whose review needs extend beyond solo scheduling.

Confirm checkout entitlements because other official help and landing pages show different prices and account counts. Delivery also depends on account type: Instagram Personal profiles require mobile reminders and manual completion. Include that publishing responsibility in the team's schedule.

6. Agorapulse — best for publishing coordinated with inbox work

Agorapulse combines a unified publishing calendar with inbox management, supporting LinkedIn posts, documents, and polls alongside other networks. Standard costs US$99 per user/month monthly, or US$79 per user/month billed annually.

The ten included social profiles are shared across the subscription; adding users does not multiply that pool. Simple approvals start on Professional at US$149 per user/month monthly, or US$119 per user/month billed annually. Advanced adds shared calendars, while Custom lists multi-step approvals.

Check network extras and handoffs. X publishing is a separate paid add-on, and interactive Instagram Stories require mobile completion. Those limits affect whether the advertised subscription covers the actual campaign.

7. Sendible — best for organizing multiple brands into workspaces

Sendible organizes brands into workspaces with calendars, queues, reports, and connected profiles. It directly schedules images, videos, and PDF carousels to LinkedIn Pages and profiles.

Current Core pricing is US$35/month for one workspace with six profiles and unlimited users. Plus costs US$99/month for three workspaces, each with six profiles, and adds assignments and approvals. Profiles are allocated per workspace rather than one unrestricted pool.

Confirm the required permissions and approval controls. Instagram formats needing native audio or filters use an email-reminder profile and manual publishing. A reminder should have an assigned person and completion check; it does not establish that the network received the post.

8. Publer — best for configurable accounts and teammate counts

Publer provides a drag-and-drop calendar, bulk scheduling, and LinkedIn Page/profile publishing, including PDF carousels. Business starts at US$10/month for one social account and the owner, with no additional members included.

Add accounts and teammates to price a working team. Business documentation includes roles, permissions, approvals, analytics, and recurring posts. Confirm the exact approval workflow because the current comparison page and help descriptions differ about lower-tier availability.

Paid unlimited scheduling still has daily posting limits. Direct Instagram Stories require an Instagram Business account; Creator-account Stories need a reminder workflow. Check both the software tier and the social account type, since they are separate prerequisites.

How to choose for a real publishing week

Start with an inventory of required accounts and post formats. Include a LinkedIn document, a short video, a Story with native effects, and a post requiring legal or brand review where relevant. Ask which can publish directly and which need a person in the native app.

Then map the review process. A draft or For review label can help coordination, while an approval workflow may enforce who can publish. Test roles, missed approval deadlines, rejected posts, account disconnections, and the time zone used by the queue.

Finally, price the complete team: users, channels, profile pools, brand workspaces, approval tier, and paid network add-ons. Run a small authorized pilot with the real accounts and check the published result and failure notification. A useful tool makes both the next action and the completed delivery visible.
